At least 11 high-performance cars, five trail bikes, and other property valued at more than $680,000 were allegedly stolen.

The two men, aged 21 and 20, were charged with a host of offences and will face court later today.

Investigators believe that the stolen vehicles were then onsold and used in the commission of a number of other serious offences, of which the investigations are ongoing.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal one of those was a white Mercedes AMG which was sold and then used in the hit on underworld figure Walid ‘Mr Big’ Ahmad. There is no suggestion that the two men arrested yesterday had any knowledge of what the vehicle intended to be used for.

Ahmad was shot dead in broad daylight at Centro Bankstown in April 2016.

He died in a hail of bullets as he and two others were ambushed by a masked gunman on the rooftop carpark.

Ahmad, a Mr Big among Sydney’s Middle Eastern crime gangs, was on the run after the fatal shooting of Safwan Charbaji in 2016.

It is understood that Ahmad was gunned down by hitman Hamad Assaad who was himself shot dead on the driveway of his Georges Hall home.

The 29-year-old had boasted about the men he had killed, with a tattoo around his neck reading, “Executioner” and below that on his chest he had inscribed; “The souls I have taken will never haunt me … only the ones I haven’t will …”

In the two years prior to his murder, Assaad, is believed to have shot and wounded convicted killer Michael Ibrahim, well-known Sydney identity Pasquale Barbaro, and the mother and aunt of one of Australia’s most feared criminals, Bassam Hamzy.
