Something you wouldn’t relish... Greenacre McDonald’s serves a mouldy burger
Yuck! A disgusted McDonald’s customer has posted a picture of the mouldy burger that she was given at a Sydney outlet. Rebecca Hantzis, 23, was also disappointed with the reaction when she had the audacity to complain.
A DISGUSTED McDonald’s customer has posted a picture of the mouldy burger that she was given at a Sydney outlet.
Rebecca Hantzis, 23, from Earlwood, was also disappointed with the reaction of staff in the restaurant when she had the audacity to complain about her green-looking bun.
A junior account manager with a promo merchandise firm, she had popped into the Greenacre branch of McDonald’s with friends around lunchtime just after Christmas.
Boyfriend George ordered two Create Your Own meals for $36.65 and a short while Rebecca’s angus burger on a ciabatta bun was delivered to the table on a serving board.
“When the waiter left, we realised what it was, having to triple to check that it was real. George rushed to the counter and showed the lady who looked like the manager.
“She took it out of his hands without saying a word and took it back to her workers to make a new one. There was no apology or anything.
“As we were standing at the counter, there was actually another burger ready to be taken out for someone else, that actually had mould on it as well.”

However, the staff spotted that before it could be picked up from the counter.
“There was a lady in the line waiting for her food who turned to us and asked ‘is that mould’ then walked off.”
She and her boyfriend were served replacement burgers but understandably didn’t feel like eating.
When Rebecca rang to complain, the customer services manager said they had already heard about it, apologised and promised to get back within 7-10 days.
That was on December 29.
“I had put it off as I’m not the type to cause a scene, but my boyfriend and parents were adamant that I should say something. I haven’t heard from them since, so I posted the photo.”
Rebecca is not planning to return to McDonald’s any time soon, particularly the Greenacre outlet.
“I can’t believe it was missed by the employees on the day,” she said. “If I had eaten it I could have been so sick.”
