Smeaton Grange fire: 50 vehicles destroyed at car-wrecking yard
A large fire has destroyed 50 vehicles after erupting in a car-wrecking yard in Sydney’s southwest. Twelve fire trucks and dozens of firefighters were on hand to control the blaze.

A large fire which erupted in a car-wrecking yard in southwestern Sydney last night is being investigated by emergency services.
Police and Fire and Rescue crews arrived at the business on Camden Valley Way, Smeaton Grange after the blaze broke out shortly before 11:45pm on Wednesday night.
Twelve fire trucks and 50 firefighters were called in to battle the inferno, which raged on for two hours before being extinguished at about 2:20am.
Explosions and running fuel fires complicated the extinguishing of the fires, which destroyed 50 vehicles at the wrecking yard which were to be turned into scrap metal.
No neighbouring businesses were damaged.
Camden police established a crime scene after the blaze was put out, and investigators will return to the scene with Fire and Rescue investigators to examine the scene.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Earlier road diversions were in place while firefighters put the fire out for two hours but have since been lifted.
