One of Australia’s most notorious killers has had his seventh application for a review into his convictions dismissed.
Ivan Milat murdered seven backpackers whose bodies were found in makeshift graves in NSW’s Belanglo State Forest in the 1990s.
The former road worker also kidnapped British tourist Paul Onions and, in 1996, was sentenced to seven consecutive life sentences.
NSW Supreme Court justice Megan Latham on Tuesday dismissed his latest application, saying the matters raised were dealt with in previous applications.
Milat, 72, tried to argue he wasn’t given a fair trial and the Court of Criminal Appeal “concocted a case to confirm the verdict of the jury” when dismissing his appeal in the late 1990s.

But Ms Latham said the High Court in 2004 endorsed the correctness of the CCA judgment when refusing Milat special leave to appeal the decision.
She accepted the crown’s submission that Milat appeared unable to understand or accept the court’s rulings on previous applications.
