A Senator elected off the back of Clive Palmer’s $100 million 2022 election spend has dared “woke ass clowns” to criticise him, following foul-mouthed posts on social media using homophobic, racist and ableist slurs.

Victorian Senator Ralph Babet posted the slurs on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday morning.

“My n****r nailed this one,” he wrote, while sharing a video of controversial online personality Andrew Tate, who was placed under house arrest by a Romanian judge in August amid allegations of people trafficking.

“In my house we say f***ot, re***d and n****r. We are sick of you woke ass clowns. Cry more. Write an article. Tweet about me. No one cares what you think.”

The offensive terms were posted on social media in full.

While multiple MPs declined to comment, saying they didn’t want to give the Senator’s comments a platform, Greens leader Adam Bandt slammed the Senator, while firing a broadside at Opposition leader Peter Dutton.

“Despicable comments like these hurt people and should be condemned. After Donald Trump’s election, we all need to work double time to keep Peter Dutton and the hard right out of power,” he said.

Senator Babet was elected in 2022, the only member of the United Australia Party bankrolled by billionaire Clive Palmer, who spent more than $100 million on his party’s election campaign.

He now earns a base salary of $233,000 a year as a Senator.

Earlier this month he posted online: “If ever in a position of power I will ban fluoride from all water supplies in Australia”.

He also took aim at the LGBTIQ community in another post earlier this month.

“If elected to power I will eradicate the radical elements within the LGBTQIA2S+ agenda and relegate it to the dustbin of history,” Senator Babet wrote.

In response to that post, Redbridge pollster Kos Samaras said Senator Babet’s election was “A political accident”.

“The most expensive seat in the senate and the least likely to be returned to the senate when their term has expired. The only thing that will be eradicated is his name on a Senatorial office door,” Mr Samaras wrote.

Multiple Senators declined to comment, saying they didn’t want to dignify Senator Babet’s comments by responding to them, while criticising the language he used.

Clive Palmer was contacted for comment, as was Senator Babet.
