Sarah Budge is back in business.

Not long after John Ibrahim’s model girlfriend revealed on social media that she had been forced to close the doors on her Kings Cross bar and restaurant, Snitch can reveal another business venture was already in the works.

News broke this week that Budge’s Crane Bar had been killed off by the COVID-19 crisis and would not be reopening with 18 staff losing their jobs.

But as one door closed, it appears another was already in the process of being opened.

According to business records, Budge registered a company known as Bayswater Development Management in February.

The name suggests the business will possibly be a property development vehicle but there are no other details on the business file.

John Ibrahim’s name also doesn’t appear on the business record with Budge listed as the sole director.

But there are hints Budge’s business has some links with the one time nightclub boss.

One is that Budge’s new business is registered as operating from Potts Point financial services company, the Elvaro Group.

It’s the same Elvaro Group that is the registered office for a number of John’s businesses.

The winds of change are about the sweep through the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In the space of one month next year, the tenures of both DPP Lloyd Babb SC and Senior Crown Prosecutor Chris Maxwell QC will end.

We’re told there’s a long line of silks preening their wigs in hope of landing the jobs. Babb’s 10-year term ends in July.

Meanwhile, NSW law says the state’s senior crown prosecutor must be under the age of 72. Maxwell hits that age in the same month.

Maxwell, who put Roger Rogerson in jail, has been on extended leave but said he is coming back in August to start the transition.

“Important for me to see out the term,” Mr Maxwell said. “The role of crown prosecutor has been my life and it’s very important to me and to represent the crown prosecutors of this state.”

Then it will be a question of whether he will revert to the role of Deputy Senior Crown Prosecutor or if the allure of retirement is too strong.

“Golf is pretty attractive at the moment,” he said.

“But I haven’t made up my mind.”
