SAM Burgess has a new contract, a new ambition — and now he has a new home for himself and glamorous fiancee Phoebe Hook.
The only catch is Souths legend Burgess will be living in the heart of Bondi, in archrival Sydney Roosters’ territory.
This is the multimillion-dollar beachfront pad where the couple will set up home in the new year.
Burgess bought an apartment in the prestigious new The Pacific a couple of years ago and it is almost finished.
Once the Swiss Grand Hotel, the new complex enjoys 180-degree views of the beach.
The NRL giant, who has recently returned to Sydney after cutting short his rugby career following England’s woeful performance in the Rugby World Cup, is believed to have shelled out $2.1 million for a two-bedroom apartment in the plush new complex.
He bought it off the plan in 2012, around the time the Rabbitohs were competing in the NRL finals.
He intends to move in after he and fiancee Phoebe Hook are married.
All of the first release of 76 apartments in the vast residential, hotel and retail complex on Campbell Pde were sold after more than 3000 inquiries before the September 2012 sales launch.
Sale prices started at $575,000 for 35sq m beach studios, with 50sq m one-bedroom courtyard loft apartments from $700,000 and two bedders from $1.1 million.
The 70sq m one-bedders with study were priced from $1.6 million to $1.9 million.
Burgess, whose contract with Souths is reportedly worth $1.5 million a season, has been spotted driving a Bentley.
At the time of purchase he was living in his Rushcutters Bay apartment, which cost $1.075 million when snapped up before auction in March 2011.
