KINGS CROSS was transported back in time last night as Richard Roxburgh reprised his iconic role as convicted killer Roger Rogerson.
Sitting in a bar overlooking Darlinghurst Road, Roxburgh, 54, stunned onlookers walking home from work with his remarkable resemblance to the 75-year-old former NSW police detective, nicknamed “The Dodger”.
The Rake star, who first played Rogerson in 1995’s Blue Murder, sat sipping a beer, surrounded by extras, as he filmed scenes for the upcoming new Channel 7 series, The High Road.
During his time as the kingpin of the armed hold up squad, Rogerson was a regular patron of many Kings Cross bars including the Bourbon and Beefsteak.
He was convicted last month of the murder of university student Jamie Gao in 2014, leading to him being named a serial killer with a badge.
Last night’s filming of The High Road, a two-part miniseries, also included an arrest scene involving actors Dan Wyllie and Aaron Pedersen.
During the shot, Wyllie was seen walking with a woman dressed in a blue sequin dress.
He was then approached by two actors playing NSW detectives, who grabbed him, shoved him into a tree before throwing him onto the bonnet of a blue Mercedes.
