RELATIVES of a family almost wiped out in a horror Boxing Day crash have only just started to think about how they will say goodbye.

Jessica Falkholt, her sister Annabelle, 21, and their parents Lars, 69, and Vivian, 60 were returning from Christmas celebrations in Ulladulla on Boxing Day when they were involved in a head-on collision with a vehicle driven by disqualified P-plater Craig Anthony Whitall, 50.

Jessica, 28, is the only survivor and remains in a coma at St George Hospital. She is in a critical but stable condition after undergoing a number of surgeries.

Jessica and Annabelle’s second cousin, Cathy Randazzo, said Vivian’s brother has only just started contemplating how the family will say goodbye.

“Her brother only started to organise it (the funeral) today,” Mrs Randazzo told The Sunday Telegraph.

Mrs Randazzo’s husband, James Randazzo, said Lars’s Swedish family and Vivian’s Sicilian relatives will have to travel from Europe if they are to farewell the married couple and their daughter Annabelle.

Yasemin Bugdayli, a childhood friend of Annabelle’s, said she still remembers her generous spirit from the first day they met in Year 3 at Winston Heights Primary School.

“I remember being afraid to approach anybody but Annabelle had this constant smile on her face,” Ms Bugdayli said.

The inseparable buddies would go on to take the same hospitality subject in Year 12, which became a rich vein of comedy.

“I don’t know why she picked that subject, she would burn the baking paper before it had even gone into the oven,” Ms Bugdayli said.

“But I am truly grateful she did as we partnered up and I was the cook and she washed the dishes and taste-tested everything ‘we’ baked.”

Ms Bugdayli will remember her friend as an adventurous, outgoing girl, who always had her heart on her sleeve.
