A gunman has opened fire on a home in Sydney’s west narrowly missing a family, including a two-year-old boy, who were inside at the time.
The sound of the drive-by shooting rocked Nottinghill Road in Regents Park about 9.30pm on Saturday.
NSW Police are now probing any links from the seemingly targeted attack to other shootings.
The Daily Telegraph understands detectives so far do not believe it is linked to Thursday’s execution-style murder of gangland boss Bilal Hamze in Sydney’s CBD.
But their efforts are being complicated by a lack of co-operation from those targeted in Saturday night’s attack.
“Police do believe that it was a targeted attack, the occupants of the house are known to police,” Acting Superintendent Danielle Emerton said.
“The occupants of the house are not assisting police at this time, (so) we are expressing to members of the public if they can assist, if there is any dashcam footage or CCTV that may be available.
“We do understand that there was another drive-by shooting earlier in the week, however evidence is not linking these two at this stage.”
Police were told the shots were fired from a white hatchback which was seen fleeing the scene soon after.
The home was sprayed with multiple bullets while a car that was parked on the front lawn was also struck in the shooting.
About 9.45pm a car matching that description was discovered burnt out on nearby Smith Street.
Fire crews were called to extinguish the blaze before a crime scene was established, with forensic police spending the night scouring both the burnt out car and home for clues.
