A Sydney real estate agent has been stood down amid claims he behaved inappropriately towards a colleague at an Eastern Suburbs agency office.

Claims about the treatment of a young female agent at Ray White Double Bay triggered an external investigation into the allegations at the exclusive agency, which lists some of Sydney’s priciest properties.

It is understood an urgent meeting of staff was called on Friday to discuss the allegation. Afterwards, the agency confirmed it was taking action to remove the agent while an independent investigation was carried out.

“Ray White Group confirms an agent from Ray White Double Bay has been stood down pending the outcome of an external investigation into an allegation of inappropriate behaviour,” a spokeswoman told The Daily Telegraph.

“Respecting the confidentiality and privacy of all people involved in any investigation is fundamental to a fair outcome and to our people’s trust in how we address concerns or matters raised.”

The female real estate agent is believed to have left Ray White in recent weeks.

It was after her departure that gossip began within the walls of the Ray White office about what happened.

The agent who is now the subject of the investigation continued to work at the branch until Friday.
