Ray Hadley has spoken out on how CCTV footage saved him from landing in hot water after a colleague lied to human resources about being barged over by the radio king.
Talking this morning on 2GB, Hadley discussed an issue where a correctional officer at Bathurst correctional centre had been accused of sexual misconduct but was cleared after CCTV footage showed he was innocent.
According to Hadley, an individual who worked on another show years ago claimed to HR that Hadley had shoulder charged him a hallway, but CCTV would show he wasn’t anywhere near the accuser.
“A number of years ago a bloke went to management and said that I had shoulder charged him in the hallway, the bloke worked on another program,” Hadley said.
“I didn’t find out about it until someone told me about it so I went to human resources to find out if it was true and they said yes it is true but we are taking no further action.
“I asked why and they said because we have looked at CCTV and you didn’t move within a metre of the fellow.”
Hadley recalled that while no further action was taken against him, the management at the time refused to sack the accuser as it would be too “difficult.”
“I said OK but why is he still working here,” he said.
“They said it would be too difficult and I said no it wouldn’t be too difficult at all, this is not under the current ownership but under the previous ownership.
“If I didn’t have the CCTV, which I didn’t know about anyway, clearing me I could have been in all sorts of trouble with this bloke’s allegations, yet the bloke was able to continue working here with the support of the presenter he worked for.
“It stinks doesn’t it?”
