DROUGHT-ravaged areas across the state could be in for some relief at the weekend, with rainfall expected across New South Wales across the coming days.
While the rainfall will offer some aid to struggling farmers, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is downplaying the weather event, warning it will be short-lived.

The weather system is expected to travel across Australia from the west before taking a north east turn to hit New South Wales, Queensland, parts of Victoria on Saturday.
Although, Sydney is already experiencing some of the wet weather tipped for the weekend.
A spokeswoman from the BOM told The Daily Telegraph the “focus of the rainfall would be North West Slopes and Plains and the Central West”.
These regions can expect rainfall between 20 — 50mm, with the state’s north also being warned of “severe thunderstorms”.
While the showers will be welcomed by struggling farmers, the BOM has said the rainfall will not break the drought currently crippling the state.
“There’s a nice bit of rain, but we can’t see anymore expected in the coming week,” the spokeswoman said.
Sydney can expect between five to 20 mm of rain between Friday and Sunday.
Currently the city has only received 1.4mm of rain for the entire month, which is making it on track to be the driest August since 1995 where no rain fell at all.
