Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has splurged $13.25 million on a three-storey Clovelly oceanfront home — and there’s no mystery about the sale, because the KIIS FM breakfast star was at its packed onsite auction on Saturday.
Henderson will be swapping suburbia for the seaside, but perhaps not straight away as the 1960s home needs improvements, and possibly a rebuild.
Henderson attended the auction with daughter Kitty and financial adviser David O’Callaghan. She knows the location well because her radio industry friend Gemma Fordham lives nearby.
Henderson robustly held bidder card 38, amid some serious, but lighthearted, competition against two other bidders.
Bids soared by as much as $500,000.
The home was sold by JP Morgan managing director Kierin Deeming and his wife, Justine.
The initial guide was $9 million through Alexander Phillips of PPD, who increased the guidance during the 38-day marketing campaign to $10 million.
“We had 98 inspections, and issued 13 contracts,” Phillips told The Sunday Telegraph before the auction.
The six-bedroom residence comes with views over Gordons Bay towards Wedding Cake Island from its 492 sqm holding.
It last traded in 2019 for $6.01 million with yet-to-be-activated council-approved plans to build a new home.
Radio star Henderson has sold her four-bedroom, three-bathroom house in Woollahra for around $12.5m, which has yet to settle.
She had paid $11m in June 2020 after her separation from her husband Lee Henderson.
Henderson and Kyle Sandilands have been an on-air duo for more than 20 years.
They partnered up in 2000 when Sandilands replaced her first husband Phil O’Neil on Austereo’s national Hot30 Countdown and then later for the breakfast slot.
But in 2014, they made the shock move to KIIS FM after contract negotiations broke down with 2Day FM.
They secured a multimillion-dollar deal which has since been touted as the biggest ever showbiz contract in Australian history.
In 2021, Jackie O and Sandilands again locked in a three-year, $5 million-a-year contract with KIIS FM.
Last year, the duo won the Australian Commercial Radio Awards for the Best On-Air Team in the FM category and were inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
