Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess lends son Billy his Souths cap in Coogee Beach family snap

Former Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess has shared the cardinal and myrtle colours of his beloved old club with his young son in a heartwarming family beach snap.

Sam Burgess has shown the Bunnies remain close to his heart.

The former Rabbitohs star, who was forced to step down from his management role with the team earlier this year, shared a series of happy snaps with his one-year-old son, Billy, wearing a club cap at the beach as he played with daughter Poppy, three.

“Family with fish and chips at the beach,” he wrote on Instagram, sharing several images of the family outing. “What a Sunday. Hope you all had a cracker too.”

Burgess’ mum, Julie, joined him with his kids at Coogee beach, as did his brother, Luke and his daughter, Grace.

Footballers Josh Mansour and Cody Walker commented on the photos.

The 31-year-old stepped down from his role as assistant coach with the Rabbitohs earlier this year after ex-Phoebe made explosive claims against him.

Billy swapped his Rabbitohs cap for a wide-brimmed hat in another pic with dad Sam and sister Poppy.

The pair have been at the centre of a high-profile marriage break up since October 2019, around the same time as Burgess retired from professional rugby league.

Last week, Confidential revealed Burgess has been splitting his time between Sydney and the Southern Highlands to spend more time with his young kids.

Burgess’ primary residence is in Sydney’s east, although he spends at least three nights a week in Bowral, where his ex is based with her parents.

Last month, Burgess pleaded not guilty to intimidation and a back-up assault charge stemming from allegations made by her father, Mitchell Hooke.
