Sydney has woken up to a blanket of thick smoke to be named the worst air quality in the world.
Health authorities have urged asthma sufferers to stay inside, with the NSW Environment’s air quality measurement reading 2334 – almost 20 times worse than Jakarta.
Jakarta’s notoriously polluted air today measures at 119 while Beijing’s measures at 155.
