Thousands of pro-life protesters flooded Martin Place on Tuesday night chanting “stand for life” and “axe the bill”.
The throng of demonstrators included young children holding signs saying “I am the pro-life generation”, “every baby is a gift” and “I support women’s rights to be born.”
The protesters were opposing the abortion bill that rally organiser Right to Life NSW say will allow abortion for any reason until birth and won’t prevent sex-selection terminations.

The crowds proved too much for some with a young woman being carried out of the throng after passing out.
New England MP Barnaby Joyce addressed the anti-abortion rally as the headline speaker. Joyce referring to the state parliament said, “Remember you don’t work for them, they work for you.”
“Surely in a civilised western society we don’t propose that we have the capacity to kill a baby because it’s a girl.”
Mr Joyce urged protesters to talk to their friends and family, calling the bill “philosophically wrong”.
His parting message to protesters was “keep fighting”.
Archbishop Anthony Fisher received cheers from the crowd when he asked for “More prayer” and “more lobbying.”
“The bill that was introduced … is a shameful killing bill.”
“No to a bill that says you can kill babies because they are girls or because they have Down syndrome.”
The anti-abortion rally featured a minute’s silence followed by the sounds of a live baby’s heartbeat.
A vote on the bill had been expected to take place this week but will now not take place until the middle of September.
