Prisoners taken to hospital after wild brawl at Lithgow Jail
Three men have been injured and taken to hospital after a wild brawl erupted at Lithgow Prison.

A prisoner has been stabbed and two others left suffering head injuries after a wild jailhouse brawl at Lithgow Prison.
The incident happened about 12.50pm on Tuesday and involved a group of at least three prisoners. A 35-year-old man suffered stab wounds in the incident and was taken to Nepean Hospital by road, while two men aged 34 and 40 received head injuries - with the younger at Lithgow Hospital.
Correctives Officers deployed gas into 4 Unit at the prison to control the situation.
Two CareFlight air ambulance helicopters attended the scene but neither were used to transport inmates to hospital.
In a statement, NSW Police said neither man’s injuries were thought to be life threatening and that both police and Correctives Services NSW are investigating.
“Emergency services attended the facility on the Great Western Highway at Marrangaroo following reports two inmates had been injured as a result of an inmate brawl,” a NSW Police spokesman said.
“Detectives from Chifley Police District have commenced an investigation in relation to the incident.
“Gas was deployed to safely secure a group of inmates and three were identified with fight-related injuries.
“Two men with head injuries aged 40 and 34, and a 35-year-old man with stab wounds were treated on scene.”
