FORMER Catholic priest Brian Spillane has been charged with raping a 10-year-old at an altar boys’ picnic.
Police allege Spillane, 74, sexually assaulted the boy in the public toilets during the picnic on Shark Island in Sydney Harbour in 1964.
The notorious former teacher was chaplain and head of discipline at prestigious St Stanislaus’ College at Bathurst.
Spillane is currently in jail for other historical sex offences relating to children, both boys and girls.
Not all of the offences were linked to the Bathurst boarding school.
He is not eligible for release until 2026.
The fresh historic sexual charge was laid after an investigation by the NSW Police Force Marine Area Command.
