TWO police officers who struggled with a hospital patient high on drugs, resulting in one of them being shot, and another who sat with collar-bomb victim Madeleine Pulver during her 10-hour ordeal were among those who were honoured with the Commissioner’s bravery award.
Senior Constables Luke Warburton and Tim Duffy received the Valour Award for bravery during the shooting at Nepean Hospital.
Mr Warburton was shot through the thigh during a struggle with an alleged ice-affected patient after he and Mr Duffy were called following reports of a patient threatening a doctor last year.
Also honoured was Snr Constable Karen Lowden, who sat with Madeleine Pulver, 18, who had what was believed to be an explosive device attached to her neck for three hours at a house in Mosman in April 2011.
