Detectives are appealing for dashcam footage that could help solve the cold-blooded killing of a Bandidos bikie boss and another man in Central West NSW which may be linked to a turf war over drugs in the region.

NSW detectives are seeking public help to solve the fatal shootings of a Bandidos bikie boss and another man in the state’s central west earlier this year.

Shane De Britt, the NSW Central West chapter president of the Bandidos bikie gang, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head on his property on Catombal Rd, Eurimbla, south of Wellington, on January 14.

Police said at the time there were no witnesses to the 60-year-old’s execution-style killing and would investigate links to outlaw motorcycle gang activity in the area.

Bandidos chapters from Denmark, Germany, France, Singapore and Italy in January released tributes to Mr De Britt, who also went by the nickname “Wock”.

NSW Police homicide boss, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty told reporters in Dubbo on Tuesday that detectives were investigating if he was killed as part of a turf war over drugs in the region.

“The obvious line of inquiry is the fact that he was the president of the Bandidos central west chapter and one of the main lines of inquiry would be that connection,” Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said.

“I would classify it as an execution, cold blooded killing. Someone’s been shot in their own house in the middle of the night,” he said.

Late last year, police dismantled a clubhouse where they found Bandidos’ paraphernalia and a replica firearm during an operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs in the state’s Central West. Investigators also uncovered an unlicensed ‘puppy farm’ on the property.

They are seeking dashcam vision from any vehicles that may have been travelling between Wellington and Orange on the Mitchell Highway or Burrendong Way, on Tuesday January 14 between 12am and 4am.

Homicide detectives are also appealing for anyone with information on the death of Wellington man Frank Smith.

On April 27, Mr Smith, 48, turned up at Wellington Base Hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach but could not be revived.

Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, said initial inquiries into Mr Smith’s death revealed that a member of the public saw him collapse in the front yard of a Thornton St, Wellington, home about 10am on Monday April 27.

“This good Samaritan has driven Mr Smith, who was in a critical condition, to Wellington Base Hospital where he later died,” Det Supt Doherty said.

“Frank was a local Wellington resident who was well known in the community and was a supportive and loving father and grandfather.

“As investigations continue, detectives are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.”

Police are seeking dashcam vision from any vehicles that may have been travelling on or near Thornton Street, on Monday 27 April 2020, between 8am and 11am.

Dashcam vision can be handed into any police station or uploaded to Crime Stoppers online.
