“PLAYBOY rapist” Simon Monteiro is back in custody after breaching his supervision orders on parole.
Monteiro was arrested on a warrant and returned to custody late yesterday.
A corrective services spokesman said Monteiro did not commit an offence but had failed to comply with his supervision conditions.
A review hearing date will be set next week.
Monteiro was released on parole last month after serving almost nine years of a maximum 11-year sentence.
Monteiro, 50, was jailed in 2008 for bashing, raping and twice impregnating a woman in an eastern suburbs home.
The parole board ordered that he be fitted with an ankle bracelet and released to live at his brother’s home.
His parole included strict conditions such as electronic monitoring, drug and alcohol testing and psychological counselling.
It is understood the breach was not to do with reoffending type behaviour, but rather Monteiro was uncooperative with conditions that had been set upon him.
Minister for Corrections David Elliott said Monteiro had disrespected the justice system.
“The offender has chosen to disrespect the justice system by breaching his parole orders,” he said.
“The only positive to take from this incident is that it shows the system is working and I commend the Community Corrections Officers for their diligent work in monitoring offenders.
“If parolees don’t think the rules apply to them, they are wrong. If they do so much as kick a cat they will have their parole orders revoked and potentially find themselves facing new charges.”
