More than 300,000 people crammed into the city’s party precinct on Saturday night to celebrate Mardi Gras 2023, with many partying until sunrise and beyond.
With the iconic event returning to Oxford St for the first time since 2020, Sydney, and indeed the world, didn’t miss out on making the celebration’s return to its traditional home a memorable one.
As the sun began to peep over the harbour on Sunday, thousands were waiting for cabs, smacking kebabs and wearing dribs and drabs.
Running mascara, broken heels and bedraggled angel wings were a common sight, as council workers began the mammoth clean up effort.
