SLAIN Sydney crime figure Pasquale Barbaro was remembered in a solemn memorial in Leichhardt this morning.
Mercedes with blacked-out windows were used to spirit family and friends into the A.O’Hare Funeral Home on Norton St.
Barbaro was gunned down in a gangland hit last Monday.
Only 20 of Barbaro’s closest family attended the service.
Some travelled from Melbourne and others Italy to say goodbye for the last time.
Sombre-looking suited men in dark shades walked into the service with their heads bowed.
Police monitored the event by sending convoys of patrol cars through the normally quiet street.
Plain-clothed detectives wearing earpieces watched on from nearby cafes.
His mother, who would only identify as Cheryl, 55, was expected to attend as was his estranged wife Melinda Barbaro, 31.
The service lasted less than an hour before tinted cars began to depart.
Those who chose to stay gathered at an intimate wake at the Italian Forum next door.
