UNDERWORLD figure Pasquale Barbaro was gunned down outside the home of controversial building industry figure George Alex.
Alex, who owns a number of construction companies was a major witness in the Building Royal Commission over allegations of corruption in the industry.
He also pleaded guilty in March last year for using a carriage to threaten to kill a former partner.
There is no suggestion Mr Alex had anything to do with the murder of Barbaro.
Barbaro was also involved in the construction industry and is known to have attempted to stand over people in order to take over their business.

The crime kingpin Pasquale Barbaro was shot dead execution-style in Sydney’s south-west last night.
Barbaro, whose grandfather and cousin were both killed in gangland hits, was shot in the head in Larkhall St, Earlwood about 9.45pm.
The 35-year-old, whose family is linked to the Italian mafia, was due to appear before the District Court on December 6 on methamphetamine manufacturing charges.
He had previously escaped an attempt on his life in Leichhardt in 2015. Hitman Hamad Assaad, who himself was shot dead just weeks ago at his home in Georges Hall, was suspected of carrying out the shooting.
Barbaro is rumoured to have been a well-known, high-ranking informant to the Crime Commission.
His heavily tattooed, shaven headed body was found bloodied, laying facedown on the footpath outside a Larkhall St house.
Police have returned to the scene this morning and are preparing to do a line search of the street to collect evidence in the hit.
