The former NSW Labor minister was refused police bail and his matter was briefly mentioned in Waverley Local Court today but he did not appear on audio visual link.

His defence asked for the matter to be adjourned for one day, at which point he would apply for bail.

Magistrate Michael Crompton adjourned the matter.

Court documents say that Orkopoulos is accused of failing to comply with reporting obligations while in Malabar between February 5 and February 11.

The State Parole Authority said it is waiting for a breach report from Community Corrections NSW before taking further action concerning Milton Orkopoulos.

The SPA was told this morning that he had been arrested.

“Following today’s developments it is expected a new breach report may be submitted to the SPA,” a spokeswoman said.

Orkopoulos was released on parole on December 20 after more than a decade behind bars for 30 child sexual abuse and drugs charges and placed on the Child Protection Register.

He was charged by police just a month later for allegedly breaching the conditions of the CPR by setting up an Instagram account to follow soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and not telling police within the required seven days. He also was accused of using the phone to speak to a child relative.

In Waverley Local Court, his lawyer, Omar Juweinat, entered formal not guilty pleas on his behalf and the case was adjourned to next month.

This time it is alleged that he has breached his CPR conditions by using someone else’s phone that has internet access.
