Two men have been rushed to hospital after their car veered into a tree on the state’s Mid North Coast.
Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway just north of Taree following reports two men had collided with a tree around 9.30am on Sunday.
Initial reports suggest the vehicle was travelling north when it ran off the highway. Two men in their 40s were flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Inspector Timothy Bayly said police were investigating several possible lines of inquiry, including whether it may have been drug-related.
“We are investigating the incident thoroughly,” he said.
The specialist Crash Investigation Unit are on scene investigating the incident.
