Overheight truck forces Sydney Harbour Tunnel closure southbound

TRAFFIC heading into the city was thrown into temporary chaos this morning after an overhieght truck entered the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, forcing the closure of southbound lanes.

THE Sydney Harbour Tunnel was closed briefly this morning southbound after an overheight truck attempted to enter the major arterial thoroughfare.

Roads and Maritime Services advised motorists to expect delays after the truck entered the tunnel at North Sydney about 6.35am.

The truck was able to be removed quickly with traffic beginning to ease about 7am.

This morning’s issue follows a similar incident on April 1 when a driver whose overheight truck resulted in the closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel was slapped with $2700 worth of fines and lost six licence points.
