Just a few years ago the Hayne Plane was taking off in the US National Football League.
But on Tuesday that flight was grounded for out-of-contract NRL star Jarryd Hayne as he reported to Castle Hill Police station as part of his bail conditions.
The 30-year-old was charged last month for allegedly sexually assaulting a 26-year-old woman in the Hunter Region in September.
Hayne was driven to the police station in a black Audi Q7 by a woman believed to be his girlfriend Amellia Bonnici, mother of his daughter Beliviah Ivy. He is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on December 10.
He’s been prohibited from contacting, stalking or intimidating the alleged victim or anyone with whom she has a domestic relationship.
He’s also been forced to surrender his passport and is banned from any international airports.
The case comes as Hayne faces civil legal action in the US over claims he raped a virgin during his time at the San Francisco 49ers NFL team in 2015.
Police declined to charge Hayne after investigating the allegations, and the woman involved lodged a civil suit.
He has categorically denied the allegations.
Hayne, who had been in talks with St George Illawarra to play his 13th NRL season in 2019, looks increasingly unlikely to ever play again due to the severity of the charge laid last night.
