Origin dream come true for Blues brothers

Two brothers will get to live out their State of Origin dream on Wednesday night after their mum nominated them as the Blues’ biggest fans.

Biggest Blues fans

State of Origin is a family affair in many households across NSW and The Daily Telegraph’s competition to find the biggest Blues fan has reunited a pair of brothers to keep this tradition alive.

Moving out of home after high school to follow his dreams of one day playing NRL, 18-year-old Lawson Moffitt was on the verge of being alone for the big game for the first time on Wednesday night.

In a last-ditch effort to keep their “family tradition alive”, Lawson’s mother Christa, entered the competition with hopes of winning two VIP tickets to the game and reuniting Lawson with his 16-year-old brother Tom.

“This is the first year that we wouldn’t be all at home to watch Origin together, it had become a tradition and a nice way to spend time together,” Mrs Moffitt said.

“I entered the competition on behalf of my boys because I wanted them to be able to keep the tradition going and watch the game together.”

Lawson moved from Kemspey to Sydney after signing a two-year-deal with the Parramatta Eels pathways team, which has been a rewarding but challenging experience for his family.

Although missing her son very much, Mrs Moffitt is happy she is able to provide the two brothers with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and hopes it inspires them to keep chasing their dreams.

“It’s really exciting for two kids from a regional area going to see an NRL game, let alone an Origin,” she said.

“They can now see their heroes live on the big stage. That’s motivating, that’s why I wanted to try and give them that opportunity.”

For the aspiring rugby league player, Lawson is ecstatic to share this opportunity with his brother in the chairman’s suite at Accor Stadium.

“To get a seat alone is a privilege let alone a good one,” Lawson said.

Tom was amazed when hearing he was going to be able to visit his brother in Sydney, and maybe get a look into the future when watching the game on Wednesday night.

Tom said it was a dream come true to get VIP tickets to the game, but said his ultimate dream was to one day pull on the sky blue jersey alongside Lawson.

“Hopefully one day he and I could be like the Trbojevic brothers and play together, that is the real dream,” Tom said.
