Members of controversial rap group OneFour were made to face a wall and searched by police at Qudos Bank Arena before being told they would not be allowed to perform a walkout song for boxer Paulo Aokuso.

The drama unfolded during the undercard of Tim Tszyu’s world title victory over American Tony Harrison on Sunday that was beamed to five million people around the world.

OneFour had been asked to perform their new song Comma’s by their friend Aokuso as he walked out for his fight against Cuban Yunieski Gonzalez, with the plan revealed by the Daily Telegraph yesterday morning.

But NSW Police quickly moved to shut it down, believing rival gangs could turn up to the venue and cause a violent confrontation.

Police have previously stopped the group from holding concerts in Sydney because their lyrics openly taunt rival gangs and boast about violence.

Officers from the anti-gang Raptor squad were at the venue and made OneFour members stand against a garage door while searching them for weapons and drugs.

An officer told them the passes they had which allowed them to perform had been cancelled after talks with venue operators, which cancelled the walkout.

Some members of the group still accompanied Aokuso to the ring as Comma’s played on the speakers, and watched the 25-year-old boxer defeat Gonzalez over 10 rounds in a light-heavyweight contest.

They issued a statement expressing their disappointment at the ban after being barred by police and venue operators from performing other shows.

“Today is not about us, it’s about Paulo, Tim and the other fighters here today,” OneFour said in a statement.

“But It’s disappointing to constantly be denied the opportunity to uplift our people.

“ We remain committed to overcoming the obstacles, no matter how many the authorities place in our path.

“Situations like these make us even more determined to succeed.”

A NSW Police spokesman said they were concerned about the event’s safety.

“With any major event, NSW Police works closely with venues and event organisers to ensure the safety and security of attendees, the wider community, and the officers who are in attendance.

“Police do not tolerate public acts of violence and they also won’t tolerate any behaviour – including music – that clearly incites and provokes retribution and other violent behaviour in NSW.”

But there was no violence at the show which included a host of NRL stars among its crowd of 11,000.

South Sydney gun Latrell Mitchell returned from his Taree farm for the fight, along with Rabbitohs teammate Tom Burgess and coach Jason Demetriou, as well as Panthers playmaker Jarome Luai, while former world champion boxer Billy Dib, was also in the crowd having been cleared of cancer after four bouts of chemotherapy.
