Most, but not all, have tipped New South Wales for an overall series triumph.

We’re currently in the midst of Ramadan, and Muslims and non-Muslims alike are converging on the Lakemba Night Markets

On weeknights, around 10,000 people turn up to Lakemba’s Haldon St to devour buttery roti, chargrilled chicken tikka skewers, garlicky shawarma and syrupy knafeh desserts.

On Saturdays, when the main road is closed off to traffic, the numbers swell to 30,000.

The markets began as a gathering for iftar, the feast that ends the day’s Ramadan fast. They serve food from sunset – usually around 5:00pm – through to 4:00am.

Why not head over and get yourself a bite to eat one evening this week!

It’ll be mostly dour this afternoon on the weather front

West-bound lanes on Parramatta Road approaching the M4 have finally re-opened after a truck and two cars were involved in an accident

But traffic remains pretty heavy, as you can see below.

All traffic had been diverted via Wentworth Road.

Thousands of extra bus services will be rolled out across New South Wales, especially in Sydney, to meet increased passenger demand

A $15.6 million boost in the upcoming state budget will provide extra buses and services on popular routes in the Sydney’s west and in the city’s northern beaches, NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance said in a statement this morning.

“As well as delivering thousands of extra services we are also purchasing more than 30 new buses and over 400 replacement buses this year, with around 20 of these new buses to cater for the increased demand in school services,” Mr Constance said.

The bus boost is part of the state government’s $1.5 billion investment in regional, metropolitan and school bus services, which Treasurer Dominic Perrottet says is a reflection of the government’s “strong economic management”.

The NSW budget will be handed down in a fortnight.

The announcement follows a previous government decision to tip an additional $133 million in to upgrading at least 11 train stations around the state.
