Official figures: Travel time from Penrith to CBD now under hour
Motorists can now travel from Penrith to the city in less than an hour in peak times - with 10 minutes being shaved off travel time by the Rozelle interchange.

Motorists can now travel from Penrith to the city in under an hour during peak times with official figures showing ten minutes has been shaved off the travel time since the Rozelle interchange opened.
While inner-western residents have been complaining about being stuck in traffic for over an hour, official figures from toll-road operator Transurban confirm the anecdotal evidence from western Sydney motorists who say travel times at peak times have become shorter.
For the period between 6-10am, trips from Penrith to City West (Pyrmont) have been reduced from 67 minutes prior the interchange opening to 58 minutes – a reduction of almost 10 minutes. The toll free alternative remains unchanged at around 90 minutes.
Motorists travelling from Parramatta to City West (Pyrmont) can get to their destination in just 26 minutes when previously it took 39 minutes.
The toll free alternative remains unchanged at around 55-60 minutes.
The opening of the Rozelle Interchange has also opened up new connections across Sydney with South Western Sydney and the Georges River area having increasing access to the western side of the CBD.
The time during the morning peak between Liverpool and City West (Pyrmont) was 51 minutes prior the interchange opening.
The figures show the travel time has since been cut to 41 minutes, with the toll free alternative remaining unchanged at around 70 minutes.
A 41 minute trip from Hurstville to City West (Pyrmont) during the morning peak now takes 28 minutes as a result of the interchange, with the toll free alternative remains unchanged at around 50 minutes.
The release of the figures come as the NSW government added a second lane to the 400m strip of the City West Link heading onto the Anzac Bridge in an attempt to ease local traffic.
Transport for NSW officials are confident the issues with the link will ease as motorists adjust to the interchange.
