A FEMALE prison officer has been suspended from duty after reports she was having a sexual relationship with a police killer behind bars.
Corrective Services NSW has placed the inmate Sione Penisini in segregation after he also punched another prisoner at the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre earlier this month.
Corrective Services NSW confirmed a female officer at the Correctional Centre has been suspended as investigations continue into allegations of an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.
Sources told Ray Hadley 2GB radio program the prison guard was escorted from the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre last week.
Penisini was jailed for 36 years for the murder of Constable Glenn McEnallay in 2002.
The 26-year-old highway patrol officer had been engaged in a vehicle pursuit in southeast Sydney after a check revealed the car was stolen.
Penisini fired upon Constable McEnallay, striking him three times in the head and chest.
