A teenager allegedly caught with 50 MDMA capsules at a Western Sydney dance festival told police she was going to take seven herself, a court has heard.
Janya Koshnitsky, 19, was one of 41 people allegedly caught with drugs at the FOMO festival in Parramatta Park on Saturday — the same festival where Alex Ross-King, also 19, died of a suspected drug overdose last year.
Koshnitsky was charged with drug supply and denied bail to front court in Parramatta yesterday, still dressed in her festival attire.
The police prosecutor told the court Koshnitsky said “I was going to take seven pills myself”.
Koshnitsky, from Ruse in Sydney’s southwest, was granted bail and broke into tears telling the court she was “so sorry”.
Another alleged FOMO dealer Matthew Kershaw, 27, was caught with roughly 80 MDMA pills in his underwear, police told the court.
The plasterer from the Central Coast was also granted bail.
Both alleged dealers had their cases adjourned to January 22.
Police arrested four of the 10,500 revellers who turned up to FOMO, which featured US singer-songwriter Lizzo on stage.
Another 13 people were given field court attendance notices for drug possession and 24 were given drug infringement notices, which incur an on-the-spot fine.
