Michael Daley has thrown his hat in the ring to be the next Labor Leader announcing he was the best person to “heal the party”.
The Labor Member for Maroubra and former Labor Leader for four months announced his move at a rally against bus cuts at High Cross Park in Randwick, on Sunday morning.
“I intend to look after, as I’ve always done, the ordinary people of NSW who have been forgotten,” Mr Daley said.
“I’m not just standing here today to ask to be made the leader, I’m standing here today to say to all the people who have been forgotten by this bad tide of corrupt, rotten government, I want to be your leader in 2023, because I think about you every single day.”
Mr Daley said he was not sure if he had the numbers yet, but said time would tell.
He thanked former Labor Leader Jodi McKay and said it was “very sad” to see her resign on Friday.
He told members of the Labor Party to trust in him to bring back stability.
“Please help me heal our party and win government in 2023,” he said.
Mr Daley said he expected Chris Minns to nominate himself for the position tomorrow.
