SYDNEY’S FLOOD CHAOS: Caved-in ceilings, flooded streets in wild rain

As the flood crisis continues to batter NSW, we’ve compiled some of the most shocking footage and images showing the scale of devastation across Sydney’s suburbs, stretching from the north to the west.

From towns submerged underwater to cars floating past classrooms, the torrential downpour has destroyed homes and left suburbs in ruins in scenes reminiscent of apocalyptic movies.

These are the most shocking images and videos from across the city.

MACKELLAR GIRLS, MANLY

Cars float outside classroom at Mackellar Girls in Manly

It looks like something straight out of War of the Worlds but the horror of the floods was a reality for Mackellar Girls students on Tuesday as cars stranded in torrents of floodwater floated past their classroom.

CAMDEN

Perhaps the most poignant footage shows parts of the southwestern suburb of Camden underwater as floodwaters rose perilously close to homes, forcing the evacuation of residents.

THE M5

It’s usually one of the city’s busiest highways, but the M5 was transformed into a river on Tuesday as torrents of floodwater streamed through the tunnel.

BIRRONG

Extraordinary vision from the southwestern suburb of Birrong shows water tearing through the front door of a Birrong home, before pouring into a home, sweeping up furniture in its wake.

DEE WHY

The popular beachside suburb more closely resembled the ocean on Tuesday as it was overwhelmed with floodwaters.

THE SPIT BRIDGE

Footage shows water gushing from the clifftops and onto the Spit Bridge on Tuesday as rain bucketed down.

ROSEVILLE

Cars attempting to cross floodwaters on the Roseville Bridge were left stranded on Tuesday.

A couch was seen drifting in torrents of floodwater in Seaforth on Tuesday.

BLUE MOUNTAINS

An image of a home teetering on the edge of a cliff at Emu Heights following a landslide has illustrated the staggering scale of damage from the floods.

BONDI

Shoppers narrowly escaped injury on Tuesday after heavy rain triggered the collapse of part of the roof at Bondi Junction.

HURSTVILLE

Incredible footage shows the roof of ALDI in Hurstville collapsing under the pressure of the deluge.

BANKSTOWN

Torrents of floodwater left parts of Bankstown near Bankstown Square completely submerged, with cars struggling to drive through the current.
