The Christmas break looks to have agreed with outgoing Nine boss Hugh Marks.
Having endured one of the major media storms of the past year, Marks appeared loved-up with girlfriend Alexi Baker as the pair enjoyed a swim at Camp Cove beach on Thursday.
It comes around two months after Marks, 54, announced his intention to depart Nine, which was around the time he and Baker went public with their romance.
She had previously oversaw mergers and acquisitions for Nine with the pair becoming close after meeting through work.
“The reality is, particularly as you get older, spending a lot of time at work, people will meet and form relationships. That’s what happened,” Baker, 38, told The Australian newspaper at the time, explaining her departure from the media company.
“I was already looking around for the next challenge. And it’s not as simple for him to go because he’s got a much broader set of responsibilities, it’s not a quick and easy thing. We wanted to give the relationship some space and time, to see if it would develop. And since I was ready to quit, I quit. I’m proud of everything I achieved at Nine, and now I’m thinking about the next step.”
Marks had separated from wife Gayle, with whom he has four children, a year prior.
Nine is yet to announce who will replace Marks at the helm of the business, which covers Channel 9, radio station 2GB and the Sydney Morning Herald.
He will continue in the role for the coming months but has enjoyed some downtime over the summer and is expected back at Nine’s new North Sydney headquarters from Monday.
