THE redevelopment of the Sydney Fish Market is a step closer with Danish and Australian architects being awarded the $250 million project and a timeline for construction mapped out.
Danish firm 3XN will partner with Sydney’s BVN and Aspect Studios to work with government and commercial bodies as they redevelop the market and surrounding precinct at Black Wattle Bay from late 2018.
The project is expected to take two to three years to complete, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian told reporters at the market on Sunday.
Three million visitors, including one in every three Chinese tourists, visit the market each year, the market’s general manager Bryan Skepper said. Mr Skepper expects the redevelopment will double those figures when it completed
