Neddy Smith back in Long Bay Prison after treatment for heart problems
He was given only days to live, but notorious gangster Arthur ‘Neddy’ Smith has been released from hospital and is back in Long Bay Prison.

Arthur ‘Neddy’ Smith, one of the countries most notorious gangsters, appears to have come back from the dead having made a remarkable recovery from serious heart problems which saw him hospitalised two weeks ago.
The 74-year-old who has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for decades was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital recently and given only days to live.
But over the weekend the convicted murderer, rapist and drug dealer has recuperated enough to return to the hospital wing of the Long Bay Prison complex where he has been housed for the past decade as his Parkinson’s became increasingly worse.

He has been in jail since 1988 after being found guilty of two murders.
Over the past few years Smith has been transferred to Prince of Wales hospital numerous times suffering from infections and viruses for specialist treatment.
But authorities and his family were led to believe the latest complications from his illnesses would lead to his death.
Smith has been in and out of hospital for heart problems and other infections but seemingly against the odds has bounced back every time.
He was however well enough to manage an escape attempt from hospital in 2017, when he allegedly snuck past two guards but was stopped by a nurse in the corridor.
Smith has been in prison since 1989 where he is serving two life sentences for murder.
Smith was acquitted of the 1986 murder of prostitute Sallie-Anne Huckstepp.
Smith has spent much of his life in prison due to his involvement in armed robbery, heroin trafficking and murder.
