Members of the Sydney Jewish community have called on police to investigate vandalism outside Mosman High School which contained racist Nazi imagery in an apparent anti-Tesla protest.

North shore residents were “disgusted” to find a signal box outside a local high school has been vandalised with racist Nazi imagery, in an apparent protest against electric vehicle brand Tesla.

The unauthorised poster near Mosman High School, which depicted an upside-down Tesla logo with narrowed eyes – apparently in reference to the Ku Klux Klan – and replaced the “S” in Tesla with a Nazi swastika, was swiftly covered over by teaching staff.

Principal Susan Wyatt had attempted to remove the poster herself earlier in the day, but having discovered the decal was sealed with plastic then enlisted staff from the school’s art department to paint over the poster in a matching colour.

Police from North Shore Police Area Command visited the school this afternoon to obtain CCTV.

Members of the Sydney Jewish community have called on police to thoroughly investigate the incident, telling The Daily Telegraph the poster-maker’s use of the swastika was “distressing, insensitive and inappropriate” and a crime in New South Wales.

“It cheapens the Holocaust and diminishes the experience of the survivors,” one prominent community member said.

“Displaying swastikas is traumatic – people shouldn’t have to see them. It encourages people to use them as a weapon against people and personalities they dislike.”

The car brand, its products and customers have come under attack in recent weeks following Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s ascendancy to the role of senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, and his controversial acts as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

A spokeswoman for Mosman Council confirmed they are working on removing duplicate posters dotted elsewhere around town.

“The property concerned is not a Council asset, so would normally be a matter for the utility provider, however in any instance where graffiti or other vandalism is deemed offensive, Council will act to remove it,” she said.

“Council has arranged for removal as soon as possible and will proactively check and remove any similar items posted in the vicinity.”
