Navy commander orders all operations to follow a ‘gender perspective’

The Royal Australian Navy Deputy Fleet Commander has ordered that “all operations and exercises” be conducted with consideration of a “gender perspective”. It comes after it was revealed air force pilots were told to do the same thing in battle scenarios.

RAAF urged to consider bombing impact on women

The Royal Australian Navy Deputy Fleet Commander has ordered that “all operations and exercises” be conducted with consideration of a “gender perspective”.

The RAN command comes after The Daily Telegraph revealed air force pilots are being told to think about the “gender perspective” of battle scenarios, including the destroying of a bridge being used by enemy troops if it means women will have to walk further to collect firewood and water.

The “Gender in Air Operations” doctrine told pilots that bombing the bridge “may provide a military advantage against the enemy” but it could also mean women had to “travel further afield, on unfamiliar and less secure, well-known or well-lit routes to gather water and firewood”.

That was criticised by veterans who warned it could lead to a fatal hesitation in the heat of battle. Now the Navy has adopted the same United Nations inspired “Women, Peace and Security Agenda” for its operations.

RAN Commodore Robert Plath wrote in the RAN’s fleet general orders that “gender considerations and analyses must be actively considered and conducted throughout the planning, execution and reporting on all operations and exercises.”

Former Army officer Bernard Gaynor questioned what that order actually meant.

“The brave men of the Royal Australian Navy should not be forced to deal with this rubbish. They just want to do their jobs and do them well,” he said.

“It’s time this politically-correct nonsense was abandoned. It is undermining our national security.”

The Australian Defence Force now has 10 full-time gender advisers and 135 ADF personnel who have taken the week-long course on how to become a gender Adviser.

Military insiders said the course was being used as a rort because it was the shortest possible training time to be qualified for a coveted operational posting.

The ADF’s relentless gender agenda is also being pursued through a hiring policy that has put minimum quotas on the number of females it wants to hire for certain roles.

Those include 20 of 462 Rifleman positions and 11 of 130 Combat Engineer positions.

Figures released to senate estimates showed that although there are fewer females they are more likely to be deemed suitable for promotion over their male colleagues. In most cases they were also promoted quicker than their male counterparts.

The Australian Defence Force did not respond to requests for comment about the gender plan.
