Sky News has called the seat of Bradfield for Liberal candidate Gisele Kapterian.
Once a Liberal stronghold the seat of Bradfield was the final seat in the state to be called.
Kapterian leads teal independent Nicolette Boele by just 205 votes, but Sky News has called the seat for the Liberals.
The two-candidate-preferred count shows Kapterian with 50.09 per cent of the vote to Boele’s 49.91 per cent, reflecting a 3.3 per cent swing towards the independent challenger since the 2022 election.
The electorate of Bradfield, encompassing affluent North Shore suburbs such as Lindfield, Wahroonga, and Turramurra, has traditionally been a Liberal stronghold.
However, Boele came close to unseating former Liberal frontbencher Paul Fletcher in 2022, setting the stage for a strong challenge this year.
With only a few thousand postal votes remaining to be counted, the Australian Electoral Commission has confirmed that if the final margin falls below 100 votes after preferences are distributed, an automatic full recount will be triggered.
The outcome in Bradfield is particularly significant in the context of the 2025 federal election, where a red wave has washed over New South Wales, leaving the state’s Liberal Party holding just a handful of federal seats in Sydney.
