Embattled Labor MP Walt Secord is set to face an investigation into bullying allegations, after multiple people came forward with official complaints against him.
A “number” of official complaints have now been lodged with NSW Labor’s head office, The Daily Telegraph understands.
Mr Secord stood down from the front bench on Monday after concerns were raised with Labor Leader Chris Minns about his behaviour.
Multiple complaints have now been lodged about Mr Secord through NSW Labor’s official complaints handling process.
Individuals can ask for the complaints to be handled by an independent third party outside the Labor Party.
The Telegraph understands that former sex discrimination commissioner Susan Halliday will handle the complaints.
However fear about potential “retribution” is still preventing a number of former staff from speaking out.
Multiple Labor sources said that they do not trust the Labor Party to handle complaints against Mr Secord appropriately.
They expressed a fear that their names would be leaked and they would face repercussions.
Mr Secord was contacted for comment.
On Friday, Mr Secord acknowledged his “shortcomings,” accepted he could be “too blunt,” and committed to addressing his behaviour.
However he said he had different “recollections” about an incident raised in submissions to the Broderick Review.
