THE hitman who killed Sydney’s Mr Big, Wally Ahmad, was wearing a woman’s top, police revealed today.
Forensic police enhanced CCTV footage of the gunman who walked up to Ahmad as he sipped coffee at a rooftop cafe in Bankstown and gunned him down.
The examination revealed that the top was a black Nike Club FZ hoodie only sold as a female garment.
The revelation came as police revisited the scene at Bankstown Shopping centre to recreate the murder using 3-D laser technology.
The images will then be analysed with other exhibits to assist detectives with their inquiries.
Wally Ahmad, was considered one of western Sydney’s major crime figures when he was gunned down on Friday afternoon on April 29, 2016.
The 40-year-old was killed in a spray of bullets as he sat at an alfresco cafe on the rooftop of Bankstown Central shopping centre.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Bindon to investigate Mr Ahmad’s murder.
Homicide squad Detective Sergeant Peter Rudens told reporters that once footage from CCTV cameras is laid over the virtual model, police will be able to measure bullet trajectory, the position of suspects and - crucially - the height and dimensions of the still-at-large gunman.
“We’re taking advantage of the fact this offender was captured on CCTV footage. You can see the jacket the offender was wearing was quite form-fitting and we’re able to get accurate biometric measurements of the build and physique of this offender,” he said at Bankstown police station today.
