TWO of the men involved in a violent peak hour road rage brawl in Merrylands yesterday have been identified as brothers, whose mum said they are “not bad kids”.
A motorist recorded a video as two men in high-vis shirts jumped out of a grey Hyundai at lights on Centenary Rd, launching into a fracas with two men in the black Audi in front of them.
One of the workers swung a right haymaker at the driver of the Audi. He then turned around, flying kicking his second opponent who was already going toe-to-toe with his friend.
The fight only ended when the driver of the Audi, who was out of the car and gesticulating wildly before the fight began, spun the Audi around and drove it straight at the brawl.
Yvette Raeli said she was shocked when she woke to see vision of her sons, Brandon, 21, and Tyson, 19, on the TV news in a violent scrap with two unknown men.
“I’ve brought them up to be good citizens. They’re not bad kids,” Ms Raeli said.
“Young men with adrenaline, it only takes one thing to tick them off.
“They’re good people ask anyone they work with or in the sports clubs they’re in.”
She said Brandon was a talented rugby league player who played in Parramatta Eels youth team in 2015 and who was looking forward to holidaying in California later this year.
“I hope this doesn’t mess anything up for them,” Ms Raeli said.
She admitted her sons did not tell her the extent of the altercation until the video went viral.
“You think your kids are safe at work and you have no idea what’s going on — it’s scary,” she said.

A witness told 7 News: “The tradie’s trying to get away and the people in the black car kept following them, saying they were gonna slit their throat ... saying a few other threats.”
The fight took place in heavy traffic between 3.30pm and 4.30pm at the Douglas Rd intersection.
Police have now identified all four men involved and have spoken to at least two of them.
“Just on the sheer vision alone ... There are quite serious charges, whether it be assault to an affray or even simple offensive conduct,” Holroyd Police Detective Inspector Pat Sharkey said.
“It’s quite confronting in terms of if you put yourself in the seat of a member of the public.
“One, the actual assault that took place and two the manner of driving that was involved in relation to black Audi which occurred immediately after the assault incident.”
He said police would also investigate whether the disagreement was simply road rage or if the men had an existing grudge.
“We don’t have enough facts involved in this particular matter to say, was it specifically road rage or was there some other underlying issue,” Det Insp Sharkey said.
He asked the public to exercise patience on the road and contact police if they had any information on the incident.
The incident follows another shocking road rage incident in NSW on Monday where Newcastle mother Bianca Lee Sams, 22, was punched in the mouth during a heated confrontation on the NSW Central Coast.
