Mother and daughter shocked at being ‘hit on’ by same state MP
It’s a case of the apple not falling far from the tree for one lovelorn NSW MP who asked out two women — only to be rejected by both. Worse is the fact he didn’t realise they were mother and daughter.
It appears one NSW politician has a type when it comes to the opposite sex.
A Sydney mother and daughter were shocked to discover they had both been asked out by their local representative.
The MP first requested a date with the daughter, and a year later, he did the same with her mum — not realising they were even related. And apparently he still doesn’t.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree — both ladies declined his offer.
POLITICAL SLIP-UP
Tripping over in public is embarrassing at the best of the times but spare a thought for Don Harwin.
The NSW Arts Minister took a tumble on a concrete step as he filmed a spot for a regional TV news story, with the video doing the rounds during the week.
His reaction to the untimely fall was bleeped out.
To make matters worse, Mr Harwin was wearing white slacks and had to be dusted down by the Mayor of Albury. Politics is dirty business sometimes.
SLOW GOING
Small business might be doing it tough but so are donations for a political party founded to represent them.
A GoFundMe campaign for The Small Business Party has raised about $2700 yesterday, falling quite short of its $250,000 goal.
The online fundraising page was created more than two months ago by the new party’s leader, City of Sydney councillor Angela Vithoulkas.
A vocal opponent of the state government’s CBD light rail project, Ms Vithoulkas wants a spot on the Legislative Council at the NSW election.

WESTCONNEX GLITCH
Despite a push from within the State Government to cut the ribbon on the new M4 East WestConnex tunnel before the March election, Sauce understands the toll road is expected to open by the end of April.
Even the official WestConnex website is confused about the status of the project. On Tuesday, a progress report on the site showed the six-lane tunnel was 97 per cent completed. By Thursday, work on the M4 East had gone backwards, dropping to 93 per cent, only to climb to 98 per cent the next day.
GILMORE CURSE
It is clear the Liberals have failed to learn the lessons of their political counterparts in how not to choose a candidate in the Federal seat of Gilmore.
Just eight years ago, Labor was facing a similar revolt after it parachuted a candidate in the seat against the wishes of locals who had hoped to preselect one of their own.
So rushed was David Boyle’s candidacy that his party membership card had not yet arrived in the mail by the time he was preselected.
After a revolt, Boyle called it quits but the damage was done with the seat changing hands at the election.
A Liberal source said the party’s decision to install Warren Mundine will play in its favour with research conducted ahead of the decision showing the former Labor boss to have greater appeal among voters than local Grant Schultz.
CAPTAIN GLADYS
As a politician trying to win an election, it helps to get on with the party state director.
In the case of Premier Gladys Berejiklian, NSW Liberal Party State Director Chris Stone may as well be family.
Mr Stone has revealed he went to the same primary and high school as “Gladys” although he was in the same year as the premier’s younger sister Mary.
“I was in the same year as her younger sister Mary at North Ryde Public School and then Peter Board High School.” Stone recalls.
“Mum still remembers Gladys from working at the school canteen.
“Gladys is a talented, warm, genuine woman, humble in her role as Premier — she is the same person today as she was back then. “
Mr Stone said he remembered Gladys becoming school captain, “and was clearly destined to become a future leader.”
