A mother who allegedly stole money from former Governor-General Quentin Bryce’s handbag has admitted to threatening to slit a police officer’s throat during a bizarre roadside rant.

Police pulled over Monserrath Hidalgo’s car while she was driving in Queens Park near Moriah College at 4pm on September 25.

The 54-year-old Randwick woman had a 17-year-old boy in the car and a packet of chocolate eclairs in her lap, agreed facts state.

When two female officers asked her if she knew why she’d been pulled over, Hidalgo replied “yeah because I steal s***. I steal f***ing everything. I’m a f***ing criminal.”

But the officers told Hidalgo it was because the rear brake lights on her Toyota sedan were out.

The unemployed mother of two then began swearing at and belittling the cops while the boy tried to hold his hand over her mouth and stop her from swinging her arms around inside the car.

“At this time police were confused as to why the accused was acting in this erratic manner,” court documents state.

But as they tried to take down her details Hidalgo’s behaviour became increasingly aggressive and hostile, agreed facts state.

The woman told the cops: “I will slit that lesbian’s throat over there with a knife and when I’m done I will shove it up her c***. She knows why”.

Hidalgo, who is on medication for anxiety, pleaded guilty to two counts of intimidating a police officer at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday and will be sentenced in April.

The officers needed help from the “visibly upset” teen to put Hidalgo in handcuffs, agreed facts state.

When Constable Ashley Rodwell and Senior Constable Karla Temporali

asked Hidalgo if there was anything in her car that she wanted to tell them about she stated “yeah, f***ing ice”.

But when one officer questioned Hidalgo about a bank card with a different surname found in her car she said “I steal f***ing money, not f***ing credit cards you bitch — big difference”.

In October 2010 Hidalgo was charged with taking $100 from Mrs Bryce’s bag while she was having lunch in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

When officers accompanying the diplomat approached Hidalgo, she produced the handbag from within her rolled-up cardigan and later made full admissions to police upon arrest.

Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge at the time adjourned the case under the Mental Health Act until December.

In April 2011 Hidalgo was sentenced to a good behaviour bond and ordered to attend weekly psychotherapy sessions for a range of offences including stealing, shoplifting and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Further charges of larceny and shoplifting were dismissed on mental health grounds and Hidalgo was ordered to enter into a two-year treatment plan with a clinical psychologist.
