Don’t go too fancy for dad this weekend. Research shows he’s not too willing to step out his dining comfort zone.
According to restaurant booking app TheFork, modern Australian, Italian and steakhouses are the top three spots booked on Father’s Day.
No bite-size 10 course degustations, no molecular gastronomy, no fuss — that’s what dad’s after.
Their 2018 stats also show that 60 per cent of Father’s Day bookings made were made the week of, right about the time when panic starts to set in and the kids start to scramble for a last minute gift.
And while you might think Father’s Day isn’t your typical day to dine out, you’d be wrong.
It’s actually the second most common day of the year for dining, according to TheFork, second only to Mother’s Day.
Father’s Day comes in at second place with a whopping 25 per cent more people making restaurant reservations for the day.
Dad shouldn’t feel neglected though, Father’s Day beats out Valentine’s Day, with more people booking for dad than love.
