An aspiring social media influencer allegedly picked up a table lamp and hurled it at her ex-lover when she spotted him on a date at one of Sydney’s fanciest new restaurants.
Natalie Marangos, 34, created a scene inside Tanuki in Double Bay on Saturday night, when she allegedly confronted her former boyfriend Dean Contos who was dining with another woman.
Witnesses to the altercation, which was allegedly captured on the venue’s CCTV cameras, said Marangos, a part-time model, armed herself with one of the small lamps positioned on each table inside the up-market restaurant, which opened last year.
NSW Police confirmed they were called to reports of an assault at a Bay St venue, at about 11.40pm.
“Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended and were told a 34-year-old woman allegedly threw a lamp at a man known to her,” police said in a statement.
“The man sustained injuries to his face. The woman left the scene prior to the arrival of police.”
However, following investigations, Marangos was arrested at a home in Hurstville Grove on Sunday night, and taken to Kogarah Police Station.
Marangos was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and served with an interim apprehended violence order to stay away from Contos.
She was granted bail and is due to face the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.
Marangos did not respond to The Daily Telegraph’s attempts to contact her on Monday.
Meanwhile Contos, from Sydney’s north shore, is also set to face court this week charged with domestic violence offences against Marangos.
In 2024 Contos was charged with intentional choking, intimidation and two counts of contravening an apprehended domestic violence order for Marangos’ protection.
He is yet to enter pleas and the matter is listed for charge certification on Thursday.
Tanuki was closed on Monday when contacted for comment, although the venue is not accused of any wrongdoing.
